Sean Ryan and Rutgers are giving No. 5 Michigan all the Wolverines can handle in the first half. The Scarlet Knights even took a lead late in the first half.

A big gain by Chris Long and a clutch 4th-down conversion set things up for Rutgers on a long drive against the defense. Then, on 1st-and-goal, the offense dialed up a call to Ryan in one-on-one coverage on the outside.

Quarterback Gavin Wimsatt put up a nice ball, but it was purely a jump ball between Ryan and DJ Turner on the outside. Ryan had the positioning and even drew a flag on Turner but held on through the contact for the score.

That touchdown put Rutgers up 17-14 ahead of halftime. Michigan did get a possession and was able to drive into field goal range for Jake Moody.

That field goal try would sail wide left with the Scarlet Knights clinging to the lead at halftime.
