The projected spread for Rutgers-Ohio State is so lopsided it's almost unbelievable
The Rutgers-Ohio State matchup has produced some lopsided spreads since the Scarlet Knights joined the Big Ten in 2014. But the projected spread for this Saturday’s game sounds so ridiculous it might have some fans screaming fake news.
One Vegas oddsmaker and bookmaker tweeted Monday afternoon that Ohio State could be favored by as many as 50.5. With that spread, the Buckeyes could win by seven touchdowns and not cover.
Even video game football coaches consider a 49-point win a blowout.
Oh my god. I just plugged Ohio State at Rutgers into my sheet. It spit out Buckeyes -50.5 with a total of 53.5

To put that further into perspective, Ohio State entered its matchup with Miami (OH) as a 39.5-point favorite. So either Ohio State’s popularity among the public is growing tremendously every week, or that says a lot about where the nation considers Rutgers to be at the moment.
By the way, Ohio State beat Miami (OH), 76-5. Based on these numbers, Rutgers can apparently be pleased with five points scored.
Ohio State won’t face Rutgers until Nov. 16, so there’s plenty of time for that spread to come back to a more normal number. Of course, there’s also time for it to grow.
