Rutgers almost pulled off one of the most memorable plays in recent memory at the end of its 37-21 loss to Indiana on Saturday night.

Facing a 4th and 32, the Scarlett Knights resorted to laterals in an attempt to extend the game.

It nearly worked! Here’s the play:

Unfortunately for Rutgers, one of the eight laters on the play was slightly forward, so the Hoosiers took over on downs and effectively ended the game.

This may not have ultimately mattered for the outcome, but it certainly mattered for some folks in Las Vegas. Indiana was roughly a 11-point favorite over Rutgers, depending on where you looked. Had this touchdown counted, it would have given Rutgers bettors the win.

Instead, Indiana improved to 2-0 on the season and 2-0 against the spread. If Penn State can pull off the upset over Ohio State on Saturday night, the Hoosiers will be the only Big Ten East team to be 2-0 after the first two weeks.
