Rutgers had some welcoming news on Friday, as one of their QB commits is expected to reclassify and join the Scarlet Knights early.

QB Gavin Wimsatt is set to join the Scarlet Knights within the coming days. He is playing in his final high school football game tonight. Wimsatt would be immediately eligible for the Scarlet Knights.

Pete Thamel of Yahoo Sports has more:

Wimsatt is a 6-foot-3, 200-pound QB out of Owensboro, Kentucky, initially in the class of 2022. He is a 4-star recruit and the No.11 ranked QB in his class, according to 247sports composite ranking.

Rutgers home opener moved from Thursday night to Saturday afternoon due to the remnants of Hurricane Ida and massive flooding in the New Jersey area.

Senior QB Noah Vedral is the projected starter for the Scarlet Knights.

The Scarlet Knights open the season tomorrow against the Temple Owls at Noon ET on BTN.
