When you’ve been outscored 149-30 over your last three games, you have to get a little creative in order to remain competitive.

Rutgers (1-3, 0-1 Big Ten), which is coming off losses of 49, 41, and 29 — the latter two against Kansas (!) and Buffalo (!) — found itself down 24-7 in the early-goings of the fourth quarter against its Week 5 opponent in Indiana (3-1, 0-1) this afternoon and desperately needed a big play to gather some tangible form of momentum.

It got it with this well-performed trick play that featured a 39-yard pass from running back Isaih Pacheco to tight end Jerome Washington, setting the Scarlet Knights up for their second touchdown of the day to cut the lead to 10:

Unfortunately, it doesn’t appear that the play ignited enough spark for a comeback — Indiana holds a 24-17 lead with possession and only a few minutes remaining in the game.
