It’s August.
When does the first college football game start? In August.
It’s truly time. Football is here. Practices are under way and at Rutgers, nothing is different.
The Scarlet Knights begin their 2019 season Aug. 30 against UMass. But before that, the team of course has to get some meaningful practices in. On Thursday, Rutgers got its practices going.
After the team got its first true look at itself, Rutgers offensive coordinator John McNulty and some of the quarterbacks spoke with the media:
Great to be back on the field! Hear from OC @CoachJMcNulty & the @RFootball quarterbacks following the first practice.#GoRU #TheBirthplace #TheHunt @RVisionRU pic.twitter.com/K8gqZneblg

The quarterbacks talked about just getting better and not worrying about UMass. There is plenty of time to think about your first opponent.
There’s still nearly another full month until that happens. But at Rutgers — and everywhere across the country — all you can do right now is just get better.
