West Virginia's Dana Holgorsen slams Rutgers, Kansas with one sentence
Most college football coaches try to avoid giving their opponent any bulletin board material. But West Virginia’s Dana Holgorsen doesn’t seem to be too worried about it.
Saturday, the ninth-ranked Mountaineers will take on Kansas, which has already won two games this season — actual football games. But it doesn’t appear that Holgorsen has much respect for the Jayhawks or their pair of wins.
While talking with reporters, Holgorsen was asked for his thoughts on eight different Kansas players recording an interception this season. The WVU head coached managed to take down the Jayhawks, and Rutgers, with one sentence.
“That’s the Rutgers factor,” Holgorsen responded.

He’s not wrong. Kansas forced six turnovers against Rutgers, three of which were interceptions, in a 55-14 pounding of the Scarlet Knights. On the year, Rutgers has had 13 turnovers.
Still, it’s not a comment you often hear from coaches. Credit to Holgorsen, who’s not afraid to speak his mind.
Kansas likely won’t put up much of a fight against West Virginia this weekend. But the Jayhawks might show some real fight in that first quarter on Saturday.
