Michigan sports bettors will have another online and commercial option in early 2022.

Kambi Group plc announced a multi-channel sportsbook partnership with Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises, a leading tribal operator in Michigan. Kambi will offer online sports betting through its Kambi sportsbook brand with the Michigan tribe.

Launch in early 2022

The tribe is hoping for an early 2022 sports betting launch.

In addition, Kambi will offer retail sports betting at two of Michigan’s most popular casino properties, Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort and Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel. Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises will integrate Kambi’s sportsbook platform into its locations as part of the deal.

“A key part of Kambi’s strategy has been to partner with market leaders and local heroes, and Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises certainly fulfils that criteria. Through its popular Soaring Eagle Casino & Resort and Saganing Eagles Landing Casino & Hotel properties, Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises has established a formidable brand and a large customer database in Michigan. At Kambi, we know what it takes to create a leading sportsbook product and we look forward to helping Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises deliver exciting sports betting experiences to its patrons,” Kristian Nylén, Kambi Chief Executive Officer, said in a press release.

Michigan sports betting legalized in 2019

Michigan legalized sports betting in 2019 after Gov. Gretchen Whitmer signed bipartisan legislation. Online and retail sports betting was launched in the state in January 2021. The state’s sports betting bill integrates retail and online sports betting for both commercial and tribal casinos.

Melinda Coffin, CEO, of Saginaw Chippewa Gaming Enterprises, said the tribe is thrilled with the partnership with Kambi.

“Our loyal guests and Soaring Eagle team have been anxiously looking forward to sports betting at our casinos. We look forward to working with Kambi Group and providing a great experience for our guests,” she said in a release.
