The Washington Nationals and BetMGM announced today the opening of their sportsbook at Nationals Park in Washington, D.C.

It’s the first open retail sportsbook connected to an MLB stadium in the country. The Arizona Diamondbacks announced a planned sportsbook at Chase Field, but that will likely open later this year. The Chicago Cubs also have a planned sportsbook for Wrigley Field which will likely open in 2023.

First MLB sportsbook

The sportsbook will be open year round. Visitors can place bets at six betting windows or utilize betting kiosks in the facility, which will also feature 40 big-screen televisions and a live odds board that will continually updates as the action progresses.

Washington Nationals’ fans will not be able to access the sportsbook while in attendance at a game, but fans will be able to place bets while in the stadium via BetMGM’s mobile app. The app will accept bets from fans within a two-block radium of the Nationals Park.

“We’re constantly pushing the boundaries to deliver sports fans unique experiences, and that’s just what we’ve done with the new BetMGM Sportsbook at Nationals Park,” said Adam Greenblatt, CEO of BetMGM, in a press release. “Whether fans are attending baseball games or looking for a place to watch any sporting event, the BetMGM Sportsbook at Nationals Park is bound to be one of the most engaging sports viewing environments in the District.”

The sportsbook is publicly accessible from N Street SE next to the center field gate.

Second Washington, D.C. retail sportsbook

The sportsbook is the second retail sportsbook connect to a professional sports stadium or arena in Washington, D.C. William Hill operates a sportsbook at Capital One Arena, home of the NBA’s Washington Wizards and the NHL’s Washington Capitals.

“The D.C.-Maryland-Virginia region is a great look into how we’re seeking to expand the BetMGM platform with a variety of unique experiences for our customers. They can utilize the BetMGM mobile app anywhere in Virginia, can visit the newly opened retail sportsbook at MGM National Harbor in Maryland, and now in D.C., they can access the first sportsbook connected to a Major League Baseball stadium. We’ve established great partnerships that allow us to bring these one-of-a-kind touchpoints to the DMV,” Greenblatt said in a release.

The sportsbook will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. to midnight.
