B1G Commissioner Kevin Warren put out a statement after the University of California Regents approved UCLA moving to the conference.

After a Wednesday night meeting, the Regents voted to approve the move by a tally of 11-5. The move will take place in 2024, and does include conditions. The Bruins will be required to pay the University of California-Berkley between $2-$10 million and will have to meet standards regarding mental health and academic life for student-athletes.

“The Big Ten Conference is grateful to the University of California Board of Regents for respecting the decision of the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA) to join our conference in 2024,” said Warren. “The landscape of collegiate athletics is evolving, and the Big Ten Conference is in a position of stability and strength with unmatched opportunities, exposure, and resources for our member institutions and student-athletes.”

The B1G will also welcome the USC Trojans in 2024, giving the conference a total of 16 member institutions.
