The UCLA Bruins welcomed the Iowa Hawkeyes to the Rose Bowl on Friday night. Entering the game, the Hawkeyes were the favorite, looking for their 7th win.

The Bruins, meanwhile, entered Friday on a 2-game winning streak and were looking to make it 3 in a row. The game started off as many expected it to, with the Hawkeyes leading 10-0 after the first quarter.

UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers threw an interception on back-to-drives to begin the game. However, Garbers and the Bruins offense settled down and controlled the 2nd quarter.

In a 10-0 hole, the Bruins outscored the Hawkeyes 17-0 in the 2nd. Titus Mokiao-Atimalala and Logan Loya both caught TD passes and Mateen Bhaghani nailed a 57-yard field goal.

The 3rd quarter was non-dramatic, with neither team scoring. Entering the 4th, the Bruins were 17-10.

In the 4th, the Hawkeyes added a TD to tie the game at 17, but a Bhaghani FG with under 5 minutes to go would be the game-winning score for the Bruins.

Perhaps most impressively, the Bruins held star Iowa RB Kaleb Johnson to his lowest rushing total of the season. The RB finished with just 49 yards on the night. Overall, the Bruins outgained the Hawkeyes 415-265.

Both teams turned the ball over 3 times, while the Bruins dominated the time of possession. The Hawkeyes held the ball for 22:27 minutes while the Bruins held it for 37:33.

While Johnson was kept in check, UCLA RB T.J. Harden had a fantastic night. Harden had his 1st 100-yard rushing performance of the season and also caught 2 passes for 16 yards.

The Bruins now need to win 2 of their last 3 to become bowl-eligible.
