UCLA reportedly reveals plans for starting QB vs. Penn State

UCLA has started senior quarterback Ethan Garbers each week to start this season, with very little success. Garbers has thrown for 808 yards, 3 touchdowns and 6 interceptions across the first 4 games of the season – 3 of which came against teams currently ranked in the Ap Top 25.
Garbers entered this weekend’s matchup against Penn State questionable with an unspecified injury and was still considered questionable early Saturday morning.
Now the Bruins and Nittany Lions fans get their answer: Justyn Martin will get the start in Happy Valley in place of Garbers.

As you can see above, this will be Martin’s first start with UCLA after being recruited as a 4-star prospect in the 2022 class.
Martin has attempted a grand total of 5 passes across his career at UCLA, 2 of which were completed. He offers a dual-threat capability that Garbers did not have, but his abilities as a passer have not been tested at all. On the road at Penn State isn’t exactly the ideal environment to start out, either.
