Dylan Harper produced a record-setting freshman season for Rutgers throughout the 2024-25 season. Now, the star guard is on his way to the 2025 NBA Draft.

The move by Harper was announced during ESPN’s “NBA Today.” The son of former 5-time NBA champion Ron Harper, Dylan is widely projected as one of the best available prospects in this year’s draft behind Duke phenom Cooper Flagg.

As a freshman, Harper led the Scarlet Knights and was 5th in the Big Ten at 19.4 points per game. Harper also led Rutgers with 4 assists and 1.4 steals while adding 4.6 rebounds and shooting 48% from the floor.

The versatile 6-foot-6 guard was named to the Big Ten’s All-Freshman team and was an All-B1G Honorable Mention. He broke the program’s freshman scoring record with 564 points this season.

While Harper was impressive during his time at Rutgers, fans will have to leave feeling a bit shortchanged, especially if fellow freshman Ace Bailey joins Harper in the draft as expected.

Together, Bailey and Harper were the No. 2 and No. 3 overall prospects in the 2024 recruiting class and the top players at their positions per the 247 Sports Composite. They combined with 59 appearances this season, but the ultimate results did not follow. Steve Pikiell’s program went just 15-17 overall and fell to USC in the opening round of the Big Ten Tournament to miss the NCAA Tournament completely.

Now, we’ll see where Harper winds up to begin his NBA career.
