Eric Musselman and the USC Trojans fell to the No. 24 Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday.

That loss puts the Trojans at 3-4 in conference play in their first season as a member of the Big Ten. The team is 11-7 overall so far in Musselman’s first season at the helm.

After the game, Musselman was asked about the struggles of adjusting to East Coast travel. UCLA coach Mick Cronin recently gave a legendary rant about this topic, so the USC coach was asked to weigh in as well.

“I want a locker room full of competitors,” said Musselman. “I’m not telling them, when we go to Indiana that, ‘Hey guys, we had to travel, it’s okay.’ Like, I’m going into that locker room with a gameplan and trying to win the game.”

The coach also pointed to USC’s women’s team, who have had no trouble adjusting to the schedule. The Trojans are the No. 4 team in the country and have a 16-1 record. The ladies have won on the road at Rutgers and Maryland so far.

“It’s not ripping up our women’s team, right? They’re super talented,” said Musselman. “They’re well-coached, and they’re going out and kicking butt when they have to travel. They go over there and just beat people by 30 on the road, with the same travel. So eventually, we’ve got to get to that point.”

Musselman’s squad, meanwhile, has fallen to Indiana on the road while losing to Oregon, Michigan, and Wisconsin at home in conference play. The next test for the squad will be a trip to Nebraska on Wednesday.
