Miller Moss was the subject of an internal investigation at USC over a dispute he had with a former roommate, according to a report.

That news was broken by TMZ on Tuesday evening, just 2 days after Moss led the Trojans to an upset victory over LSU on Sunday night in Las Vegas.

In a statement to TMZ, Moss confirmed that he had been previously investigated by the university. He also said the matter has long been resolved:

“Two and a half years ago, the University conducted an investigation related to a personal dispute between me and a roommate. I fully cooperated and took accountability for my decisions, and the matter was resolved.

“I regret my actions and have grown and learned from this matter, and my focus is on the season ahead.”

TMZ shared video that appeared to show Moss taking a t-shirt and saying, “I’m stealing this shirt, dude.” The video also appears to show Moss removing a pillow from a bed and then farting into it. TMZ reports the videos were recorded in the spring of 2022.

USC also issued a statement on the matter to the Southern California News Group:

“We take all student conduct complaints seriously and are legally obligated to keep those matters private and confidential. Each and every case follows a prescribed and thorough adjudication process as described in the USC Student Handbook. If a student has been found responsible and has fulfilled all of the terms of their discipline, the matter is considered closed.

“In this case, the matter was resolved and settled two-and-a-half years ago.”

Head coach Lincoln Riley defended his starting quarterback when addressing the matter at his Tuesday night media availability.

“That’s a high-quality individual there,” Riley said. “That’s one guy you got to be careful about going after, because of the character of him. Everything that he does is as high as anybody that I’ve ever had. And that’s all I’ve got to say on it.”

Riley also called the timing of this report “interesting” in his statement.

Moss threw for 378 yards and 1 touchdown in USC’s win over LSU on Sunday. The Trojans are set to take on Utah State in Week 2.
