Pete Carroll to continue teaching at USC after taking Raiders job
Pete Carroll recently landed a new gig after 1 year out of coaching.
The coach will take over the Las Vegas Raiders in a return to the NFL sideline. However, even with the new role, Carroll is holding on to one of his old ones. During his year off from coaching, Carroll returned to USC to teach a course.
Carroll teamed up with USC Dean of Religious and Spiritual Life Varun Soni and Adjunct Professor of Entrepreneurship David Belasco for a class called “The Game Is Life,” which focuses on personal development post-grad for senior students. The university told TMZ that Carroll’s new job will not interfere with his class.
Carroll is a beloved figure at USC. The legendary coach was at the helm of the USC football team from 2001-09. During that time, Carroll led the Trojans to 1 National Championship and 4 Rose Bowl victories.
After the successful USC tenure, Carroll returned to the NFL as the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks. Carroll remained in Seattle from 2010-23 as the HC and vice president of football operations. Under Carroll, the Seahawks won Super Bowl XLVIII against the Denver Broncos.
However, the Seahawks struggled to a 9-8 record for the 2nd-straight season in 2023, and Carroll and the team mutually agreed to part ways. During the 2024 season, Carroll began teaching his course at USC and served as a senior advisor for the Seahawks.
Now, at 73 years old, Carroll will work to turn around one of the NFL’s worst teams from 2024. Don’t worry, USC students, you’ll still be able to take a class with one of the best coaches of this generation.
