Even if USC translates with ease from the Pac-12 to the B1G, it’s still going to take time for anyone to adjust to the new conference realignment. Even then, coaches and programs across college football will make jokes on the move in terms of the geographic outlook of a California-based program facing off against midwest teams each Saturday.

TCU coach Sonny Dykes might be the first to publically criticize the move by the Trojans, but he certainly won’t be the last. On Tuesday, the Horned Frogs’ coach joked that Trojans are an ideal fit for the Big Ten due to its geographical location.

“I think it makes sense for teams that are close to each other to play each other,” Dykes said per 247Sports when discussing the Iron Skillet rivalry between TCU and SMU. “You know, it’s why it makes so much sense for USC to be in the Big Ten … they’re right next to each other.”

Currently led by Lincoln Riley, USC is off to a hot start to begin the 2022 season. The Trojans, quarterbacked by former Oklahoma standout Caleb Williams, have dominated opponents en route to a 2-0 start, putting 107 total points against Rice and Stanford.

The Trojans will make the jump to the Big Ten, along with UCLA, on Aug. 2, 2024. Both schools will be eligible to play in the conference for that season as well.
