USC is hiring UCF cornerbacks coach Trovon Reed to coach its cornerbacks in 2025, Trojans head coach Lincoln Riley announced on Tuesday.

“Trovon Reed is another fantastic addition to our staff,” said Riley in a statement on the hire. “A rising star in our business, Reed is a talented coach with NFL playing experience. He’s an exceptional recruiter who will surely contribute to our climb as a program. We’re excited to welcome him to USC.”

The 34-year-old Louisiana native played wide receiver and cornerback at Auburn. He was later on the football staff on the Plains, as the player relations coordinator in 2021 and the director of football and player relations from 2022-24.

Reed then moved on to UCF, where he was the cornerbacks coach last fall before USC hired him away to coach its cornerbacks in 2025.

Reed went undrafted in 2015, but he had a winding journey in the NFL, spending time with the St. Louis Rams, Miami Dolphins, Seattle Seahawks, San Diego Chargers and San Francisco 49ers.

After his years in the NFL, Reed spent time in the Alliance of American Football and the XFL, so his football journey has covered just about every base. Now, he’ll be tasked with trying to improve USC’s defense after the Trojans struggled to a 7-6 season in 2024.
