USC suffered a major de-commitment from its 2025 class on Sunday.

Julian Lewis, a Top 5 quarterback and just outside the top 30 among overall players regardless of position, has reopened his recruitment with just 2 and a half weeks left before the Early Signing Period begins.

Lewis, from Carrollton, Georgia, is ranked by 247Sports’ composite rankings as the No. 5 quarterback in the country and the No. 31 player overall. He is also considered the No. 6 player in the state of Georgia.

He had been pledged to the Trojans since August 2023, but USC has suffered a major setback in the national conversation since then. Lewis committed with the Trojans coming off an 11-3 season and a Cotton Bowl appearance in Lincoln Riley’s first season.

They struggled in 2023, slipping to 8-5 as Caleb Williams took a massive step back from his Heisman Trophy-winning season of 2022. In 2024, they are 5-5.

Lewis’ decision also comes as the Trojans flipped a 5-star quarterback from Texas A&M. Husan Longstreet, the nation’s No. 6 quarterback in the class of 2025, announced that he had pledged to USC. The Corona, California product is the No. 34 player in 247Sports’ composite rankings.
