Wisconsin had finally given up Paul Bunyan’s Axe. After 14 years of beating Minnesota annually, the Badgers had the chance at taking it back on Saturday at Minnesota’s TCF Bank Stadium.

Wisconsin did exactly that.

The Badgers went to Minnesota and won 38-17. The Golden Gophers couldn’t contain Wisconsin’s offense, and after the game, the Badgers took Paul Bunyan’s Axe back.

How did the Badgers celebrate? They did a few things, but one of which could be seen as a jab at Minnesota — friendly or not:

At Minnesota, they have a saying thanks to coach P.J. Fleck that goes “row the boat.” Well, at midfield, Wisconsin celebrated by using the Axe as an oar to row a boat.

Again, shade thrown. All in good fun?

We’ll never really know.
