Don’t worry, Wisconsin fans. Barry Alvarez isn’t going anywhere.

The longtime Badger staple will be in Madison for a few more years.

Wisconsin announced that Alvarez reached a contract extension to remain the university’s athletic director until January 2021. His deal actually already went into effect at the start of September.

Fittingly, it came on the heels of Wisconsin’s impressive win against No. 5 LSU.

Alvarez has been in that role at Wisconsin since 2004. Before that, he was the Badgers’ football coach. Wisconsin is coming off arguably its best stretch in athletics history.

The football team earned double-digit wins in five of the last seven seasons, which was only accomplished by eight other schools.

The Badger AD engineered a nearly nine-figureĀ apparel deal with Under Armour that went into effect this school year. Alvarez also represented Wisconsin and the B1G as a member of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee.

With the extension, one of the conference’s most familiar figures will remain such for the foreseeable future.
