Back to Madison? Wisconsin starting DL leaning towards return for 2022 season
One of the biggest keys to success for Wisconsin’s defensive line might be returning to the Badgers for one more season.
This week, starting nose tackle Keeanu Benton told reporters that he’s “leaning” towards a return to Madison for the 2022 season. He is still awaiting for an NFL evaluation before making a final decision and has been discussing his options with his friends and family.
Benton just completed his third season with the Badgers. He’s appeared in 32 career games during his time in Madison and has been a menace along the defensive line since joining the program.

This fall, Benton tallied 24 tackles, including 5 for loss. He was also credited with 2.5 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries and 2 pass break-ups. The Badgers ended the season 8-4, going on a 7-game winning streak after a disappointing 1-3 start.
Over the last 3 seasons, Benton has racked up 44 tackles with 9 for loss and 4.5 sacks.
Benton and the Badgers will have one more game left this season before looking ahead to 2022. Wisconsin will take on Arizona State in the Las Vegas Bowl on Thursday, Dec. 30. Kickoff is set for 10:30 p.m. ET.
