There was a chance we were going to see Corey Clement play on Saturday at Illinois.

Well, that chance is no more.

The Badger tailback did not make the trip to Champaign for the road tilt, despite the fact that he suited up for last week’s game against Purdue. Wisconsin’s Taiwan Deal, who has also been sidelined, did not make the trip, either.

The decision was made after practice on Thursday, according to UWBadgers.com writer Mike Lucas.

With rosters reduced for road teams, it isn’t incredibly surprising to see that both of the banged up Badger backs staying in Madison.

Clement did not appear to have suffered a setback to his groin injury during the week. He had been a limited participant in practice, but Paul Chryst had indicated that he would be a game-time decision.

Clement hasn’t played since the season opener against Alabama. Without he and Deal, Dare Ogunbowale and Alec Ingold figure to see a heavy workload against the Illini.
