Barry Alvarez shares what Wisconsin's 'Barry Alvarez Day' means in emotional preview video
This Saturday will be a memorable one inside Camp Randall Stadium.
Over the weekend, Wisconsin will honor legendary head coach and athletic director Barry Alvarez during the game against Michigan. The Badgers are dubbing Oct. 2 “Barry Alvarez Day” to honor Alvarez’s three decades of service in Madison.
On Friday, Wisconsin released a preview video with comments from Alvarez. Among other things, he thanked the fans for their continued support. Alvarez admitted he could not have been as successful without that support, and he says he is excited to share the day with everyone.
“I love the fans, I appreciate the support they’ve given us over 3 decades cause there are so many people that made this happen,” said Alvarez, “And that allowed me to have success as a head coach.
“I look at every player that came through here. Every assistant coach, every single person contributed to this. I appreciate the accolades, I appreciate the attention, but I feel I have to share this with everyone.”
We are what we are today because of him
