Billy Edwards Jr. officially entered the transfer portal on Dec. 12 after spending 3 seasons with the Maryland Terrapins. It didn’t take long for the quarterback to find a home as Edwards announced his commitment to Wisconsin on Monday.

“Time to Jump Around,”  said the QB in his announcement post on social media.

Edwards was the starting quarterback for the Terrapins in 2024 and played in 11 games. The QB threw for 2,881 yards with 15 touchdowns and 9 interceptions with 150 rushing yards and 5 scores on the ground.

The QB got his first extended look as a starter in 2024 after sitting behind Taulia Tagovailoa the previous 2 seasons. Overall, Edwards threw for 3,317 yards with 19 TDs and 10 INTs in parts of 3 seasons with the Terps.

In high school, Edwards was rated as a 3-star prospect in the 2021 class. The 247Sports Composite ranking had Edwards as the No. 103 QB and the No. 42 prospect out of Virginia. Edwards originally committed to Wake Forest before transferring to Maryland. Now, the QB will try his luck at a 3rd school.

For the Badgers, Edwards is the 2nd QB that’s been brought in via the portal so far. Joining Edwards in Madison is former San Diego State QB Danny O’Neil. The Badgers needed to be aggressive for a signal-caller in the portal after the team saw 3 of their QBs from 2024 enter.

Tyler Van Dyke, Braedyn Lock, and Cole LaCrue all jumped in the portal, leaving the Badgers incredibly thin at the position. Mabrey Mettauer is the lone QB who attempted a pass in 2024 that remains on the roster.
