Chez Mellusi torches Buffalo for 89-yard TD in Wisconsin's season opener
Chez Mellusi and Wisconsin are still in a tight game with Buffalo during Week 1’s season opener. However, he provided the Badgers some breathing room in the second half with a masterful run.
Facing 1st-and-10 from their own 11-yard line, Mellusi received a hand-off and went to work. He waited for his blocking to develop and then broke into the open field.
A couple of Buffalo defenders had a chance to pin Mellusi down around midfield, but they could not wrap him up. Mellusi broke a tackle and then turned another defender around before outracing everyone.
When it was all said and done, Mellusi raced for an 89-yard score in impressive fashion:

With the 3rd quarter winding down, Mellusi is up to 151 yards on 10 carries and 2 touchdowns. Braelon Allen has since added a touchdown, and he’s also up to 95 yards on 14 carries after an impressive drive with the offense.
Allen remains the main back in the backfield for the Badgers, and that’s unlikely to change. However, it remains true that Wisconsin has been at its best when Allen and Mellusi are both healthy, and Mellusi showed why in Week 1.
