With less than 10o days until the start of the college football season, ESPN released an all-encompassing guide to the 2019 campaign.
Everything from best non-conference matchups, top plays from 2018 and early Heisman candidates were among the categories in the 100-day countdown piece. Among the top candidates to win the Heisman Trophy next season was Wisconsin running back Jonathan Taylor.
He was the only B1G player included in ESPN’s list.
Taylor has had a monster start to his college football career, rushing for over 4,000 yards through his first two seasons at Wisconsin. If he was to stay all four years, he’s on pace to break rushing records set by former Badger star Ron Dayne.
Here’s what ESPN had to say about Taylor:
He probably isn’t talked about enough, but the reigning Doak Walker Award winner has been one of the nation’s best players each of the past two seasons.
Taylor is coming off a season in which he led the NCAA in rushing yardage with 2,194 yards and 16 touchdowns. He reached 100 yards in 12 of Wisconsin’s 13 games last fall.
In two seasons, Taylor has totaled 4,171 yards and 29 touchdowns. He’s led the B1G in total rushing yards and yards per game average each of the last two seasons. Taylor led the league in rushing touchdowns in 2018.
