A lot can change in one week.

The Badgers began the season 2-0 with wins over Western Kentucky and New Mexico. Unfortunately, the undefeated record would not last past Week 3. BYU rolled into Wisconsin and pulled off the unthinkable with a 24-21 upset over the Badgers.

The loss is bad enough in itself, but the Badgers must now recover and get ready for the start of B1G play. Unfortunately, ESPN’s updated FPI for Wisconsin is not very favorable. According to the FPI, Wisconsin is given just a 48.2% chance of coming away with a win when taking on Iowa in Week 4.

It doesn’t get much better for the Badgers moving forward. Wisconsin must still take on Michigan and Penn State with both games on the road, and the FPI is projecting the Badgers to lose both games. Wisconsin is currently given just a 28.3% chance of taking down the Wolverines and a measly 18.3% chance of beating the Nittany Lions.

Anything can still happen, and there’s no denying the Badgers are a talented team. Still, the loss to BYU was brutal and has the potential to derail this season. One thing is certain: finishing with an 8-4 record would be a disastrous finish after many analysts projected Wisconsin as a potential Playoff team.
