Former Wisconsin running back Nakia Watson is continuing his career in the Pac-12.

Per his Twitter profile, Watson has committed to Washington State after entering his name into the NCAA transfer portal. He also made an announcement via his Instagram account to make the move official.

Watson spent three seasons in Madison primarily in a backup role. He played in 16 games over the last two years and totaled 522 yards and 5 touchdowns on 127 carries. Because the NCAA has granted a blanket waiver for all student-athletes during the 2020 season, Watson still has three years of eligibility remaining.

In 2019, Watson was Wisconsin’s second-leading rusher behind Jonathan Taylor. He ended that year with 331 yards and a pair of touchdowns on 74 touches. Last fall, the running back was third on the team with 191 yards and 3 scores on 53 carries.

As a recruit, Watson was a 3-star back out of Austin, Texas. He was a member of Wisconsin’s 2018 class and was ranked as the No. 21 running back of the cycle. He picked the Badgers over offers from Bowling Green, Nevada, North Texas, Ohio, Texas State and Sam Houston State.

Watson joins a Washington State squad that ended the 2020 season with a 1-3 record under new head coach Nick Rolovich,
