The Badgers are officially going to be changing the name of their field.

Camp Randall Stadium isn’t going anywhere, but the field is being named to “Barry Alvarez Field” to honor the legendary coach. Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported the news.

Alvarez will already be getting a personalized game ball on Saturday as well so this is just the cherry on top. He coached the Badgers for 16 seasons (1990-2005) and won 119 games during that span.

Wisconsin also won the Rose Bowl twice and was overall 9-4 in bowl games that Alvarez coached in. They also won 3 B1G championships (1993, 1998, 1999) while he was the head man.

The Badgers won 10 or more games in 4 seasons while Alvarez was there as well.

There’s no better weekend to honor Alvarez than this one as Wisconsin will be taking on rival No. 14 Michigan in Madison on Saturday at Noon ET. It’ll be televised by FOX.
