A lot of people were shocked to here that USC and UCLA would be joining the B1G in 2024. However, longtime Wisconsin AD Barry Alvarez stated that he really likes the move in a recent interview with Ben Hartsock of SiriusXM Radio.

Alvarez was the AD in Madison from 2004-2021. He also was the HC of the football from from 1990-2005 as well. Alvarez won 3 B1g championship during his tenure as head coach in 1993, 1998, and 1999. Other accolades he received are the AFCA Coach of Year (1993), Bobby Dodd Coach of Year (1993), and B1G Coach of the Year (1993, 1998). Alvarez was also one of the 13 founding members of the College Football Playoff Selection Committee in 2014.

“We’re progressing in the NCAA, you know college athletics is progressive,” said Alvarez. “And I give our commissioner a lot of credit for moving ahead and making that decision and moving forward with that. I think it’s really good for our league and for the future of our league.”
