Former Wisconsin FB Derek Watt involved in scary collision on MNF
Derek Watt, the middle of the three Watt Brothers, was involved in a scary collision on Monday Night Football.
Watt is a member of the Pittsburgh Steelers, along with younger brother T.J. J.J. Watt is the oldest of the three brothers and plays for the Houston Texans.
While T.J. is having a monster season on Pittsburgh’s defense, Derek is a fullback that has mainly seen action on special teams. That is where he was playing during the scary collision.
Racing downfield as a part of the Steelers punt coverage unit, Watt was shoved late in the play as he went diving into the legs of Cincinnati’s return man. Unfortunately, his head collided with the knee of the returner in a vicious manner with Watt hitting the ground motionless for a long moment.

Fortunately, Watt was able to be helped to his feet and walked gingerly off the field with assistance. He was quickly taken to the locker room for further evaluation. Hopefully he is alright after what was certainly a scary collision.
The middle Watt played for the Badgers from 2012-15. He finished with 369 yards from scrimmage and a touchdown while also recording 17 total tackles in college. Watt has six total tackles for the Steelers in 2020.
