A big year for Quintez Cephus has resulted in a fifth-round selection in the 2020 NFL Draft.

On Saturday, Cephus heard his name called with the 166th pick in this year’s draft. He’ll be making the drive from Madison to Detroit, where he’ll start his career with the Lions.

Cephus is the fourth player from Wisconsin selected in this year’s draft and the third former offensive player for the Badgers. He joins teammates Jonathan Taylor and Tyler Biadasz as offensive selections out of Wisconsin. Zack Baun is the lone defensive player currently to be taken in the 2020 draft.

Cephus was the leading receiver for Wisconsin in 2019, hauling in 59 catches for 901 yards and seven touchdowns. He had the opportunity to return to Madison for one more season with the Badgers but opted to bypass his final year of eligibility and declared for the NFL Draft.

Now Cephus will be heading to the Detroit Lions to try and carve out a spot on the roster and prove he can be a successful receiver at the next level.
