Greg Gard provided an update on Tyler Wahl’s injury status on Saturday. According to the Wisconsin head coach, Wahl has made improvements but is not yet ready for action.

Wahl sustained an ankle injury in Wisconsin’s victory over Minnesota on Tuesday.

Wahl’s absence leaves a hole on the court not easily filled. The forward is Wisconsin’s leading scorer, averaging 13.2 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game this season. It’s the first time Wahl has missed a game this season.

Coming into Saturday’s contest against Illinois, the Badgers had won 6 straight, and were ranked No. 14 in the country. Chucky Hepburn and Steven Crowl, the leading scorers behind Wahl, had spectacular games, and racked up a combined 42 points against the Illini. But, without Wahl, it was hard for Wisconsin to find a good rhythm, and the Badgers fell to the Illini 69-79.
