Unfortunately, Titus Toler’s time on the Wisconsin football team has come to an end. Wisconsin announced on Wednesday that the sophomore safety will remain on campus as a student but is stepping away from football due to injuries.

“Both of them, I’d say from a physical standpoint, very impressive,” Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard said of Toler and fellow safety Travian Blaylock via 247Sports. “They can move, explosive, twitchy guys…These guys, I’m not saying they’re Jamerson at this point, but from a physical standpoint, they can do things differently than some guys that are just true safties. Both of them progressed as the season wore on last year. I’m excited to see them challenge.”

Returning senior staters Scott Nelson and Collin Wilder, will once again anchor the safeties for Wisconsin.

Toler appeared in two games last season, tallying an interception vs. Illinois in the opener. Toler went on to miss the last five games of last season because of an undisclosed injury.

Toler arrived at Wisconsin as a four-star prospect and flipped to the Badgers after originally committing to Colorado.

Wisconsin posted a 4-3 record in 2020. Wisconsin will open the 2021 season on Sept. 4 vs. visiting Penn State (12 p.m. EST/FOX).
