Jack Coan gave the Colts an opportunity to win their second preseason matchup against the Detroit Lions Saturday.

Coan, who finished 7-11 with 83 passing yards and 1 touchdown, drove the Colts down the field and found Samson Nacua in the end zone for a 27-yard touchdown to make it a 27-26 ballgame with only 40 seconds remaining.

The Colts struck out on the ensuing 2-point conversion, falling to the Lions 27-26. Nobody wants to stick around for overtime in a preseason game, after all.

Coan found his way to Indianapolis by way of the Notre Dame Fighting Irish. He transferred from Madison to South Bend for the 2021 season after four years at Wisconsin.

While with the Badgers, Coan threw for a total of just over 3,000 yards passing with 23 touchdowns and 8 interceptions. He did not play the 2020 season after a foot injury in camp caused him to miss the entirety of his senior year. He announced he would transfer to Notre Dame shortly after the 2020 season.
