Jim Leonhard discusses biggest difference from serving as DC as opposed to head coach
Jim Leonhard is starting to feel more comfortable as interim head coach of the Wisconsin Badgers after his first game. Wisconsin went on the road for Week 6 to take down Northwestern 42-7.
After the game, Leonhard talked about the difference of having the responsibility of handling duties as a defensive coordinator and a head coach.
Leonhard points out the biggest difference of “always being available” as a coordinator vs. the extra load of being the HC.
He added hearing extra calls in his headsets (FG, 4th down, etc.). Overall, felt like he handled it as best as he could.

Leonhard has been the defensive coordinator for Wisconsin for the past 7 years after serving as the defensive backs coach in 2016. He has been been a head coaching candidate for several teams in the past few seasons.
Wisconsin athletic director Chris McIntosh fired Paul Chryst as head coach of Wisconsin after starting the season 2-3 and a 34-10 loss at home against Illinois in Week 5.
Leonhard looks to continue his winning streak on the road to Michigan State in Week 7.
