Jim Leonhard finally got to see CB Alexander Smith play on Saturday against Michigan State. Milwaukee Journal Sentinel’s Jeff Potrykus reported on his plans for Smith now that he’s back from injury.

Smith came back from a hamstring injury that has been plaguing him for the majority of the season against Michigan State and recorded 1 total tackle.

Leonhard stated that he’ll be getting more snaps as his conditioning improves. Leonhard revealed that Smith will play a versatile role on defense with the ability to play on the outside, in the slot, or at safety.

The Badgers will be feeling a lot better now that one of the longer tenured members of the team will be back on the field. Smith has played in 37 career games including his debut on Saturday.

Wisconsin will be looking to rebound against Purdue in Leonhard’s third game as interim HC. We’ll see how much playing time Smith gets in that game.
