Jim Leonhard interviews for key NFL vacancy, per report
Jim Leonhard is still on the open market following the end of the NFL season. However, he’s reportedly in the mix for a key defensive coordinator vacancy.
According to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler, Leonhard has interviewed with the Philadelphia Eagles and head coach Nick Sirianni for the DC role of the NFC champs. Sirianni is in the market for new coordinators with DC Jonathan Gannon and OC Shane Steichen leaving for head coaching jobs following the Super Bowl.
The #Eagles have interviewed former Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard as they look to fill their DC job, per league source. Leonhard was a 10-year NFL safety who is respected in league circles.

Leonhard spent the first 7 years of his coaching career at Wisconsin, the majority of which was spent as a well-respected DC for the Badgers. During the 2022 season, Leonhard was promoted to interim head coach following the firing of Paul Chryst.
After Wisconsin went with Luke Fickell as the next head coach, Leonhard announced he would not be returning to his alma mater in an assistant coach capacity. Where Leonhard eventually lands is still up in the air, but he should be a key name to watch for DC roles moving forward.
