Jim Leonhard does not have a firm timetable on when Wisconsin is expecting running back Chez Mellusi to be available. However, Leonhard is not shutting the book on Mellusi being back on the field in 2022.

On Thursday, Leonhard indicated there is still a possibility Mellusi is able to return to action for the Badgers this season.

“I think there’s a strong possibility that he will be back before the season has ended,” said Leonhard.

Mellusi has been out with a wrist injury since the Northwestern game, one of his most productive outings of the season. In the win over the Wildcats, Mellusi had 31 yards rushing and a 23-yard catch for a touchdown.

On the season, Mellusi has 223 yards rushing and 2 total touchdowns while mostly serving as the backup to Braelon Allen. In 2021, Mellusi had 881 yards of offense and 5 touchdowns before a season-ending injury after 9 games.

Hopefully, he is able to get back on the field with some time left to contribute in 2022, but for now, Mellusi will remain out in Week 11.
