John Torchio has announced he will not return in 2023 and that this season will be his last as a Wisconsin Badger. Torchio has provided a lot as the Badger’s starting safety with 5 interceptions in the first 9 games.
Per Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel:
Not sure if this is out there but #Badgers senior safety John Torchio, who has option of coming back in 2023, says this is his final season of college ball. On track to get his master's next spring. Has started all nine games this season and has five INTs.

Torchio is one of the most experienced players on this Wisconsin defense and his impact has been noticeable this season. He has appeared in 26 games in his career and has recorded 41 tackles, 4 interceptions and 3 pass breakups prior to 2022.
This season, Torchio has been outstanding with a total of 24 tackles, 5 interceptions and 5 pass breakups. He has been extremely consistent in his open-field tackling and adds leadership to the Badger’s defensive backfield.
He was named to the Academic All-B1G team two years in a row and is currently seeking his master’s degree.
Last week against Maryland, Torchio recorded 3 solo tackles in a 23-10 finish which was their 5th overall win and 3rd conference win this season.
Torchio still had another year of eligibility due to his initial redshirt year in 2018.
