Trying to keep pace with Ohio State’s Justin Fields and LSU’s Joe Burrow in the Heisman Trophy race, Wisconsin junior running back Jonathan Taylor continued his strong 2019 season vs. Kent State (2-2) on Saturday at Camp Randall Stadium in Madison.

Racking up 119 yards and three touchdowns on just 16 carries, Taylor helped stake the No. 8 Badgers (4-0) to a 21-0 first half lead.

Surpassing the 100-yard threshold once again, the junior is creeping closer to some elite company.

The all-time FBS rushing yards leader with 7,125, Dayne starred for Wisconsin from 1996-99, winning the 1999 Heisman Trophy in the process.

Entering Saturday, Taylor was 185 yards behind Melvin Gordon for third-most in program history. With the 119 yards he has already accumulated, he is now just 66 yards shy of the current Los Angeles Charger.

Kent State at Wisconsin is currently airing on ESPNU.
