Jonathan Taylor, Wisconsin working to 'refocus' following disappointing record in 2018
Jonathan Taylor is coming off of a 2,000-yard campaign, but the Badgers as a whole underperformed in 2018.
Wisconsin entered last season with big-time expectations but never got rolling consistently. The team did win eight games for a 10th consecutive season, but a string of four straight double-digit win seasons was snapped. Getting back to that mark may be even tougher this season.
The B1G West is shaping up to be a competitive division this year, but Taylor and the Badgers aren’t focused on that. Their only goal right now is working to refocus after a lackluster season:
“Just need to refocus,” explained Taylor. “It’s a new year, new chapter, new team, new roles. I think we just need to focus in at fall camp and everybody earn their roles.”
When asked about his personal goals, Taylor said his focus is on improving on third downs:
“Really improve on third down, being consistent in that,” said Taylor. “Freshman year, I was kind of a first and second-down back. Sophomore year, I learned it and showed flashes of it throughout the season, so this year working on being able to put that on tape consistently.”
It’s hard to find much fault in Taylor’s game. He has 4,171 rushing yards and 29 TDs through his first two seasons in Madison. Hopefully, he can spark the offense to a big bounceback year in 2019.
