It’s not everyday you get a defensive players perspective on what it’s like to tackle Wisconsin RB Braelon Allen. Wisconsin fans got a taste of what it’s like after Keanuu Benton and Nick Herbig spoke about it at B1G Media Days.

Benton plays on the defensive line for the Badgers, so he gets to see Allen 1st once he gets the ball. He quickly joked that he’s lucky he doesn’t get to see him once Allen has a full head of steam. Benton also mentioned that players can feel Allen’s presence when he steps into the locker room.

“When you see him come into the locker room, he has a presence that’s known,” said Benton. “He’s a big individual who’s huge, strong. I can say that I’m lucky that I get to see him before he gets a full head of steam. Because I feel like that would not be fun for a safety, corner, or linebacker. He’s a big dude, and he will run through your face.”

Herbig also had some things to say about Allen. He also opened with a joke, saying that he is 2-for-2 against Allen in practice. Much like Benton, he also gave Allen some props.

“Braelon’s a freak man,” said Herbig. “He worked hard, he stayed ready. When his opportunity came, he took full advantage of it. I’m proud of that kid, he works his tail off.”
