Keeanu Benton has cemented himself as a leader on the Wisconsin D-line. Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel sat down with him to talked about who he thinks will have a breakout season on defense this year.

Benton recorded 25 total tackles, 5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and 3 forced fumbles for the Badgers last season. Benton thinks that DE Rodas Johnson will have a great year. He even poked fun at his fellow D-lineman.

“He is fast,” said Benton. “He is very athletic. He might have a little gut. I always make fun of him for that. His feet are nuts. He’s got a lineman’s body with skilled feet.”

Johnson saw an uptick in his playing time last season, appearing in 12 games for Wisconsin. He had 7 total tackles, 1 sack, and 1 forced fumbles. After how he played last season, maybe DC Jim Leonhard will get him even more involved.

The junior DE could be poised for a breakout season like Benton says.
