Iowa head coach Kirk Ferentz has seen plenty of defenses during his time in football, and Wisconsin’s unit definitely stands out to him.

Despite an upset loss to Illinois and getting blown out by Ohio State, the Badgers still boast one of the best defenses in college football. The unit will definitely be hungry and eager to bounceback at home against Iowa, and Wisconsin is also coming off a bye week of preparation for the Hawkeyes.

Ferentz conducted his traditional game week press conference on Tuesday, and he was not about to provide any bulletin board material to the Badgers. He praised Wisconsin’s elite defense, even comparing it to some of the Pittsburgh Steelers teams he coached against in the past.

“I’m not saying these guys are the Pittsburgh Steelers, but it kind of reminds me of the Steelers when I coached in the National Football League,” Ferentz said. “They have a lot of different ways to put the pressure on you and they’re kind of subtle with some of the things they do. But they’re impactful, and they make it tough to move the ball and score points.”

Hawkeye Football shared a video of some of Ferentz’s comments, along with a link to the transcription of his important comments from Tuesday:
