A Division II linebacker will have the opportunity to prove his worth at the next level.

Wisconsin recently released a team roster for the 2019 season, and one of the names on the updated list is ex-Division II linebacker Travis Wiltjer. He joins the Badgers after spending the last three seasons at Northwood University in Midland, Mich.

It’s not too often that you see players make that kind of leap. However, if you like statistics, Wiltjer certainly brings the numbers to Madison.

Wiltjer appeared in 28 games at Northwood, tallying 152 tackles, including 16.5 for loss. He also forced five fumbles and registered 3.5 sacks in three years.

Because Wiltjer is changing divisions, he’ll likely be immediately eligible to participate for the Badgers in 2019. There has been no official word from Wisconsin on the situation, though.

Wisconsin opens the 2019 season against USF on Friday, Aug. 30.
