Sports Illustrated went to B1G country to find its cover for the 2018 college football season, and it isn’t one of the traditional powers that has stolen the spotlight.

You might expect Sports Illustrated to go with Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State or maybe even Michigan State when looking for a potential team to slap on the cover of its monthly magazine, but this time it decided to take a different path. The cameras traveled to Madison and shined the bright lights on the Wisconsin Badgers.

Yes, Wisconsin has been a powerhouse in the conference over the last two decades, but without the same appeal as some of the other B1G bluebloods, seeing the Badgers on the cover was a bit of a surprise.

The cover featured Wisconsin’s dominant offensive line, which could be one of the best in the country in 2018. Sports Illustrated also made a prediction that Paul Chryst and Co. will reach the College Football Playoff at season’s end.

Here’s a look at the Sports Illustrated cover:

Wisconsin is coming off a 13-1 season with the only loss coming in the B1G Championship Game to Ohio State. The Badgers then defeated Miami in the Orange Bowl.

This year, Wisconsin is expected to repeat as B1G West champs and return to Indianapolis for a third straight season.

With the dominant offensive line and Heisman Trophy candidate Jonathan Taylor in the backfield, the Badgers have a really good shot at reaching the College Football Playoff this year.
