Wisconsin now owns the all-time series lead against Minnesota.

Heading into Saturday’s battle for Paul Bunyan’s Axe, the all-time series between the Badgers and Gophers was knotted at 59-59-1. This year was a tiebreaking year, with the winner of the 2017 bout getting the edge in the all-time head-to-head.

The Badgers now own a 60-59-1 lead after thrashing the Gophers 31-0 at TCF Bank Stadium to close out the regular season.

And Wisconsin’s players didn’t want Minnesota to forget who is now on top. Defensive lineman Chikwe Obasih wrote “60-59-1” on a whiteboard and held it up for the Gophers fans to see.

Later, several players posed with the whiteboard and Paul Bunyan’s Axe to commemorate the win.

Wisconsin improved to 12-0 on the season and will head to Indianapolis next Saturday to play Ohio State in the B1G Championship Game. Minnesota ends the year at 5-7, one win short of bowl eligibility.
