Luke Fickell will be the next head coach of Wisconsin, according to multiple reports circulating. He reportedly informed Cincinnati players of his decision Sunday afternoon.

There has been speculation over the weekend that Wisconsin was heavily pursuing Fickell, and it has been reported by multiple sources Sunday afternoon.

Fickell has been targeted over Wisconsin’s interim head coach Jim Leonhard, who was believed among many to be the favorite for the job. Fickell took over for Paul Chryst, who was the head coach for the Badgers from 2015-2022. Chryst was fired after starting the season 2-3. The Badgers finished the season 6-6.

Chryst forged a 67-26 record over his time at Wisconsin with his best season coming in 2017 when he led Wisconsin to a 13-1 season.

Fickell was the head coach for Cincinnati from 2017 to 2022, where he led the Bearcats to their first-ever College Football Playoff appearance last season.
